Abstract

4948. Benjamin, R. B. March 1, 1912, [Convention date]. Gearing for starting machinery requiring both hands of operator to be occupied of the kind in which two hand levers must both be separately actuated to release a clutch. Two such levers are connected to a floating member pivoted to the clutch-operating rod. Fig. 2 shows one form in which the hand levers 18, 26 are connected to the ends of a lever 22 pivoted to the clutch rod 16. Fig. 3 shows another form in which the lever 22 is replaced by a pulley 39 over which passes a chain 40 connected at each end to one of the hand levers.
