Propelling; planes, arrangement and construction of.-A pair of supporting- surfaces 4 are secured to an aviator's body by a cross-spar 2 and members 1, straps 6, 7 being also used. Flapping wings 8 are hinged along the lines 10-10 and are adapted to be drawn down by cords 17 connected to levers 15 with unequal arms. The shorter arms of the levers 15 are connected by cords 13 to double-armed levers 12 controlled by the aviator. The wings may be operated by the legs or both by the legs and the arms of the aviator. A spring 18 may be used to return the wings after the down-stroke. In crosssection the plane and wing are shaped like the wing of a bird.
