Abstract

10,605. Budig, O. A. May 4, 1912, [Convention date]. Balancing, automatically. A hollow curved plane 1 arranged transversely of the line of flight of an aeroplane is provided with a slot 6 extending the whole length of the plane whereby the action of the air current creates a vacuum in the hollow plane, which acts on a piston 3 to control the inclination of an elevator 4. The degree of suction on the piston depends on the velocity and direction of the wind. The hollow plane is set at an angle with the main planes and may take the place of one of the planes of the aeroplane such as the tail plane. A spring 7 tends to hold the elevator horizontal.
