Abstract
743,856. Helicopter wings. HUNTING PERCIVAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., [formerly PERCIVAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd.], and FRISE, L. G. May 24, 1954 [Feb. 23, 1953], No. 4996/53. Class 4. A helicopter having a supporting and propelling rotor and fixed wings providing lift in forward flight is characterized in that at least an outboard portion 11b of each wing may be turned about a fore-and-aft axis into a substantially vertical position during hovering, whereby negative lift produced by downwash from the rotor on the wing may be reduced. As shown, each outboard portion is turnable about a fore-and-aft axis 12. The wing tips carry wheels 14 which may be mounted as in Specification 743,857.
