1,104,860. Parachutes; kites; flexible wing aircraft. BARISH ASSOCIATES Inc. 28 Sept., 1965, No. 41176/65. Headings B7G and B7W. A flexible wing or kite or parachute canopy comprises a sheet of flexible material shaped to form oppositely facing catenary shaped edges 13, 14 and lines are attached to the edges throughout their length to take loads on the wing or canopy. The catenary shaped edges are the lateral edges and the leading and trailing edges 11, 12 are straight or, as shown, curved and of the same or different lengths. The edges may have darts to impart camber to the sheet (Fig. 1, not shown). Several wings or canopies may be joined together, either side by side, or in tandem, or both. Those in tandem may be joined by a longitudinally extending spar (Fig. 9, not shown), which may for example be of fibre-glass, or be inflatable.
