Abstract

1,218,455. Attachment of sails to masts. T. K. PEARCE. 12 Aug., 1969 [15 Aug., 1968] No. 39068/68. Heading B7V. A hollow metal mast has a longitudinal track 11 for slider A attached to sail S and is provided with separate detachable resilient fairings 12 extending between the mast and the sail to prevent airflow between them. In the embodiment described, the fairings 12 are made of plastics material and they press resiliently against the mast and the sail. Each fairing shown is of T-shaped cross-section and the stem 12A of the T has a bead 12B engaging slidably in a keyway 13.
