Abstract

1,075,314. Parachutes. G. Q. PARACHUTE CO. Ltd. April 1, 1966 [Feb. 12, 1965], No. 6263/65. Heading B7G. A parachute comprises a canopy having a top 11 of substantially flat, triangular form formed along its edges with a skirt 13 formed at the rear with openings 17, rigging lines 18 being attached to the skirt. Vents 21, 22 may be formed in the top or sides and, as shown may be operated by cords 23, 24 to provide directional control. In flight air confined beneath the top by the skirt holds the top 11 in its flat extended condition. At the rear the skirt may be replaced by a hinged controllable flap. The top 11 may be formed with a longitudinal downwardly-extending rib and the skirt may be formed by tubes inflated by air flow. Panel 11 may be reinforced by crossed tapes.
