Abstract
1,004,890. Steerable parachutes. A. A. PETRICHENKO, and A. I. ISANIN. Jan. 31, 1964, No. 4142/64. Heading B7G. A parachute is provided with two openings 2 controllable by rigging lines, and two openings 3 covered by flaps also controlled by rigging lines. The openings are positioned symmetrically about the fore-and-aft centre line, the openings 2 extending for ¢ to ¥of the length of a gore to the full width of a gore, and being separated preferably by five to seven gores (the canopy described has twenty-eight gores) and the openings 3 being adjacent to diametrically opposed gores. The rigging lines of the openings on each side are connected together so that forward, backward and rotational movement is effected by pulling two lines.
