Abstract

1,098,379. Controlling and propelling aircraft, &c. G.Q. PARACHUTE CO. Ltd. Sept. 21, 1966 [Nov. 4, 1965], No. 46693/65. Heading B7G. A parachute comprises several canopies 11, 12, 13 connected by rigging lines to a load (such as a parachute 47) at least some of the canopies having, in outward facing positions, openings 18, 24, 34 which may be fitted with flaps (not shown). Parts of the canopies, or the flaps (if fitted) may be connected either to the left and right front risers 51, 54 or to other control lines in reach of the parachutist 47 to control the rotation and forward movement of the parachute. The canopies may be connected by sewing together the peripheral hems at the points where they touch by tying at the rigging points. Vents, with or without vent rings, may be provided at the gore apices.
