Abstract

27,117. Johnson, J. Y., [Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik]. Nov. 25. Hydrogen.-In the production of hydrogen by the reaction of carbon monoxide with steam in the presence of a catalyst at a raised temperature, the necessary heat is supplied in the catalytic chamber itself by admitting oxygen or air at one or several points therein. When hydrogen is already present, as in water-gas, the injection of steam may be dispensed with, since steam is formed.
