Abstract

24,823. Johnson, J. 'Y., [Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik]. Oct. 31. Ammonia, catalytic production of from nitrogen and hydrogen; catalytic apparatus.- The catalytic agent used in the synthetic production of ammonia is subjected to regulated cooling so as to prevent over-heating when large contact apparatus is employed, and consequent diminished yield. Cooling may be effected by passing cooling-fluid through a spiral tube situated within the contact mass, and the cooling-fluid employed may be the reaction mixture, or one of its constituents.
