Abstract

2308. Johnson, J. Y., [Badische Anilin & Soda Fabrik]. Jan. 28. . Catalytic agents, preparation of; dehydrogenated organic compounds, catalytic production of; hydrogenated oils and other organic compounds, catalytic production of.-Catalytic hydrogenation and dehydrogenation of carbon compounds are effected in the presence of metallic iron, nickel, cobalt, or copper, mixed with a compound of fluorine, tellurium, or antimony. The fluorine &c. compound may be mixed with a compound of the catalytic metal, or the catalytic metal may be soaked in a solution of the added compound, or an insoluble flourine &c. compound may be precipitated in the presence of a compound of the catalytic metal. The catalytic metal may be in finely divided or compact state, and carriers may be employed. According to examples: nickel carbonate is mixed with sodium silicofluoride solution, and the product is dried, reduced by hydrogen, and employed in the hydrogenation of linseed-oil; aluminium, calcium; or potassium silicofluoride may be used; nickel wire netting is cleaned with dilute nitric acid, treated with ammonium silicofluoride solution and aluminium nitrate, dried, and reduced; nickel carbonate is soaked in a solution of ammonium tellurite, or potassium pyroantimonate, and the product is reduced and employed in the hydrogenation of cotton-seed oil or mineral oils. Specification 7315/09 is referred to.
