Abstract

20,541. Johnston, A. Sept. 9. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and pneumatic cushions. -A hollow hub 2 is connected rigidly with the rim 32 by hollow spokes. The spokes 13 communicate with the hub, and contain plungers 14 fitted with wheels 15 supporting the outer rim 16 of channel section. The spokes 11 are fitted with inwardly-projecting tubes 23 containing spring- pressed valves. The plungers 18 have a pin-and-slot connexion with the outer rim at 21, and act in conjunction with the valve to pump air into the hub. The spokes 12 do not open into the hub, and are connected at their outer ends with the outer rim by toggle-levers 30. The sides of the outer rim overlap plates 33 fixed to the sides of the inner rim,
