Spring wheels with sectional outer guided members.-The hollow wheel body D containing compressed air, is formed by disks and a spacing-ring E, Figs. 1 and 2, outside of which are cylinders B fitted with hollow pistons A. The inner part of the piston is reduced and guided through the ring E. An air-tight joint is made at the shoulder a<5> by a cup-ring a<6>, and the piston is held in place by a nut a<2> on the inner end. Access to the interior is obtained through apertures closed by plates F secured centrally by a bolt f. One plate is fitted with a valve G. In the form shown in Fig. 5, the cylinders B are fixed to the inside of a rim C connected to the hub by spokes or disks G. A stout flexible bag D is fitted inside the wheel and connected separately to each of the cylinders. Each piston is guided by a separate plate E<1>. To lubricate the piston, there may be a partition a<8> forming a chamber from which lubricant passes through an aperture a<7>. According to the Provisional Specification, the lubricant may be conveyed slowly by means of perforated tubes, which cross the chamber and contain wicks leading to the outside of the piston near the ring a<6>.
