Spray carburettors.-A tube 4, of perforated metal, gauze wire, &c. covered with cotton or other suitable absorbent material surrounds the jet orifice 3. It is held in position by a plug 5, which may be perforated, in its upper end, the plug being secured to a bridge-plate or diaphragm-plate 6. Air drawn in at the lower end of the body passes through and into the absorbent tube beneath a ring or projection 1 on the body, and leaves it again above the projection. A number of jets and tubes may be used in one carburettor, and an exhaust gas or water jacket may be employed. The absorbent tube may be arranged in an horizontal or inclined position.
