Abstract
139,663. Couch, C. A. April 16, 1919. Gas-mixing appliances. -A gas-mixing device for use with burner nozzles or internal - combustion engines, consists of a hollow truncated cone 1, the conical wall of which is slotted at 4 to produce a series of vanes 2 which are twisted so as to impart a gyratory or whirling motion to the gases as they pass through the cone. The mixing device has a flange 5 by which it may be secured between the ends of an engine induction or other pipe, as shown at 10 in Fig. 5. The cone I may be enclosed in a co-axial cone of slightly larger diameter to increase, the velocity of discharge, and a gauze screen may be fitted across the larger end to ensure even distribution of gas flow. The cone may be formed at the end of a tube.
