Abstract
8895. McKechnie, J. April 15. - Reversing. - In an engine having separate cams for forward and reverse running, the valve levers are formed in two parts A, B, of which the part B is pivoted on an eccentric c and bears on a projection a on the part A, which is pivoted on the shaft C. In the construction shown, two cam-arms B are provided for each valve-arm A. The arms B are pivoted on oppositely-arranged eccentrics, so that by turning the shaft C one arm is put out of range and the other brought into range of the reverse cam. In a modification, the cam arm is adjustable to engage either of the cams.
