7753. Turner, A. March 31, 1911, [Convention date]. Pouncing.-In a pouncing- machine, in order to limit the effect on certain parts of the hat, a guide projects through the pad and pouncing - strip and bears on the hat or the strip is sanded on the outer margins only and left smooth in the middle. The pad is supported by a yoke 70, swivelled to an arm 71, which is pivoted to a bracket 72. A rod 68, pivoted to a rotating eccentric 73, is arranged to slide vertically on the yoke 70, and carries, by means of brackets 57<g> and ball-andsocket joints 57<f>, a plate 57<h>, on which the pouncing-pad 57<j> is mounted. The pouncing- strip 68b is stretched over this pad by clamps 68<c> and thumb-screws 68<d>, and through both pad and strip is cut a hole 68<c>, through which projects a guide 70<b>, preferably consisting of a wheel mounted in a bearing 70<c> pivoted to a rod 70<d> adjustable by a nut 70<c>.
