Band apparatus. - In a band abrading- machine of the kind in which the band is adjusted for tension or inequalities of stretch by means of a pulley which is displaceable both towards and from and in an angular direction in relation to the other, or driving, pulley, the adjustable pulley f is mounted on a spindle j secured to a bracket formed in three parts e, h, i. The lower part e is fixed to, or forms part of the machine frame a, and has pivoted thereto, about an horizontal pivot g, the part h, which in turn has pivoted thereto the upper part i; the pivot is formed by a vertical pin k screwed into the part i and rotatable in the part h. A screw m serves for angularly adjusting the part i about its pivot, and a screw p for adjusting the bracket about the horizontal pivot. A screw s is fitted to the part h to act as a stop to limit the backward movement of the bracket; an arm t may be provided, carrying a weight u for maintaining a constant tension on the band. Curved articles may be abraded by slackening the screw p and pressing the article into the band.
