Cutting glass.- In an apparatus for cutting sheet glass, photographic plates, &c., two similar cutting - devices are arranged upon a bed - plate 1 so that, after one cut has been made, a second cut can be made at right-angles to the first. The glass sheet g, Fig. I, is moved to the right on supporting - rails 9, 15, and is guided laterally by an adjustable rail 17 and spring-pressed wheel 61. A diamond 38 mounted in an adjustable holder 27, 35 is pressed against the glass by a spring 34, and the glass is pressed downwards at the same point by a spring-controlled wheel 48. While passing through the second cutting - device, the glass occupies the position g<1>. In a modified apparatus for making a single cut, the wheel 61 is dispensed with, and the guide-rail 17 is moved laterally by a hand-lever instead of by screws 26.
