5949. Rogers, E. E. March 9. Razors, safety. In a razor of the kind having a pivoted blade, two guards are provided, and the blade may be swung into shaving position with either. The frame having guards a<1>, a<2> is mounted on the handle b. The bladeholder is pivoted in slots a<5> in the sides of the frame and is rotatably connected to the spring- pressed plunger b<1> by the longitudinal movement of which the blade may be disengaged from the projections a' on one guard and swung over to the other. The length of the stem c' of the plunger may be adjusted by screwing. The spring may be dispensed with, the position of the blades being fixed by screwing. In a modification, the guards are made separate from each other and from the frame, and are slidably mounted on screws c<3> in the frame, being operated by thumb-pieces a<9>, a<10>, and controlled by a split tubular spring housed in the handle and acting on extensions a<7>, a<8> of the guard.
