Abstract

20,245. Hart, H. C. Sept. 12. Razors, safety. The blade-holder consists of two portions between which the blade is held, the holder being movahly connected to the guard and having a screwed post which is engaged by a handle bearing against the guard so that this is adjustable relatively to the blade to vary the cut of the razor. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the back portion B of the holder and the guard A are formed from a U-shaped piece of spring metal, the blade F being held upon the portion B by a front portion or spring plate G riveted at its rear edge to the portion B. The blade has extensions F' to facilitate handling, and lugs F<2> which engage the ends of the plate G and position the blade. In a modification, turned-over pieces of the portion B form the front portion of the holder, and struckup portions of the guard may engage the portion B and tend to force the guard and holder apart. The blade-holder and guard may be separate or may have little elasticity, in which cases a coiled spring E, Fig. 8, arranged around the post C between the holder and guard, tends to force them apart. The handle D which screws upon the post C may be rotatably connected to the guard-plate. The guard-teeth may curve towards or from the blade edge and may be provided with elongated openings for cleaning the guard.
