Abstract

1924. Krauss, F., and Ludwig, E. Jan. 24. Blowpipe burners; atmospheric gas burners. -An oxyacetylene or like burner for illuminating, welding, and other purposes is provided with Bunsen air inlets which are covered by a movable sleeve connected to the oxygensupply cock when oxygen is admitted to the burner, but which are opened to prevent deposition of soot from the flame by turning the oxygen off. In the form shown, the airregulating sleeve B on the burner A is actuated automatically from a membrane T, which carries a valve N and is raised against the pressure of a spring S bv the oxygen supplied through the connexion W and chamber M to the conduit O. In alternative constructions, the sleeve B is moved longitudinally or rotated by a rack or toothed ring which is engaged by a pinion on a hand-operated valve in the oxygen-conduit.
