Abstract

Disk-supported-blade fans and pumps.-A centrifugal fan or pump impeller comprises a disk a having blades b on both sides, and openings d in it so that a fluid-inlet on one side only need be provided. End thrust is thus avoided. Some of the blades on each side may extend to the boss, and may be curved to receive the fluid without shock. The construction may be used with advantage in multi stage pumps.
