102,418. Stott, O. March 9, 1916. Helico - centrifugal apparatus; casings. The runner of a rotary fan has a set of screw blades f, Fig. 3, and a set of centrifugal blades d separated from the first set by a ring e, so that the air from one set does not pass through the blades of the other set. The composite runner may be arranged in a casing h having diffuser blades i and a regulating-valve at its discharge end. Single or double inlet volute casings may be used, and two or more runners may operate in combination. With a double-inlet volute casing, Fig. 6, the screw portion f of the runner may occupy one inlet, and the centrifugal portion d the other inlet, a guide-disk l being placed between them.
