Abstract

23,694. Berry, H. F. Oct. 26. Cauldrons.-Consists in heating and drying stone for tar-macadam by passing the material on conveyer bands under perforated chambers through which heated air is blown on to the stone. The Figure shows an apparatus with two conveyers b, c, the material passing from the conveyer b to the conveyer c as shown. Hot air is blown on to the surface of the material in the conveyers through perforated chambers g, which are connected with air-supply chambers f at the sides. The apparatus is mounted on wheels as shown, and an air-heating furnace and fan may be mounted on a separate wheeled frame and connected to the apparatus by a flexible coupling.
