Granular material is dried, heated or cooled during conveyance along a vibratory gutter, the bottom 4 of which is both perforated for the passage therethrough of a gas from a lower chamber supplied with the gas from a fan 9 and nozzle 8, and also provided with a single flexible perforated sheet 6 of rubber, polythene or the like, which is secured only at its longitudinal up-turned edges to the opposite side walls of the gutter. Transverse bars 10 are mounted above the sheet 6 to brake the transport of the material in the gutter.
