Abstract
111,515. Marks, E. C. R., (Universal Drying Machine Co.). Now. 27, 1916. Endless-band conveyers coacting with fixed surfaces. - Material, such as brewers' grains. sugar, pulp, &c., fed into the machine at D, Fig. 1, is carried over a long floor A by revolving scoops or stirrers F' mounted on an endless chain G running on sprocket wheels G<1>. The stirrers are mounted on axes carrying rolls running on fixed tracks F<6>, Fig. 2, and pinions F<3> engaging stationary racks F<4>. The floor A is formed with a series of openings A<1> which are covered by raised guards A' formed in a separate plate or integrally with the floor, as shown in Fig. 5, so as to constitute a series of ducts opening in the direction in which the material moves. Heated air is forced by a blower B' into the conduit C<2>, passes through the openings A', and is drawn off through outlets J<2> by a fan J. The material is discharged at the end of the apparatus by a conveyer E.
