Abstract

23,321. Olso-Licht Ges. Halbmayr & Co. Nov. 18, 1910, [Convention date]. Atmospheric gas burners; gas supply.-In a burner in which the gas supply or the internal air supply is fed under pressure by means of mercury or other vapour from a vaporizer in proximity to the burner, an auxiliary burner d for starting vaporization is connected to apparatus, such as a thermostatic valve c, which automatically extinguishes it when the main burner is generating sufficient heat. In one construction, the vaporizing - chamber l surrounds the burner tube of an inverted incandescent burner. The mercury vapour from the chamber l passes through a pipe m to the nipple g and draws in air through holes p and gas through a pipe f, the gaseous mixture passing through an annular chamber h to the burner pipe i while the mercury vapour condenses and passes through a pipe n back to the vessel l. The valve c may consist of a thermostatic rod extending near the main burner and acting upon a diaphragm which is pressed against the end of the gassupply pipe b.
