Abstract

28,968. Boult, A. J., [Per-Se-Licht Gee.]. Dec. 13. Atmospheric vapour burners; oil-supply; oilreservoirs.-In apparatus in which liquid fuel is fed from a reservoir by compressed air, air is heated by the combustion gases in a tubular coil closed at one end and connected at the other to the space about the liquid fuel in the reservoir. Fig. 1 shows the application to an inverted incandescent burner. The air chamber is preferably arranged in two or more coils 11, 10 about a central hollow body 9 in the flue, and the lower part of the inner coil 10, which is protected from excessive heating by a plate 26, is connected to the annular oil-reservoir 1 by pipes 13, 14, Fig. 2, a valve casing 15, and a pipe 16. The exit from the pipe 14 is automatically controlled by a valve 18 carried by a lever 17, the free end of which works between springs 20, 21 of different strengths, the spring 20 being adjustable. The pipe 14 also leads to a filling-opening 23, and is closed at the same time as the latter bv a conical plug 24 with a screw-threaded cap 25, fresh air being admitted to the tubular coils when the plug 24 is removed. The inlet end of the mixing-tube'is reduced and provided with an internal flange 8, and the reservoir 1 is protected by a cap 28.
