Fig. 1 shows the application to an incandescent burner, a being a gasoline reservoir in which the wick h<1> dips. The upper end of the wick h<1> is enclosed in a tube h, surmounted by a vapour chamber h<2> with an opening h<3> leading to the atmospheric burner c. The tube h and wick may be duplicated, and lead to a common vapour chamber. A subsidiary wick j is arranged in various ways to form an adjustable heating- jet i for vaporizing the gasoline. The jet i and the wick j may be completely or partially surrounded by an air tube, to prevent siphoning after the lamp &c. has become hot.
