Abstract

13,222. Grube, E., and Wells, A. C. May 31. Atmospheric spray burners; blowpipe burners; vaporizing - apparatus.-A blowpipe or lamp burning mineral oil is so arranged that the oil may be mixed with air, or with oxygen as desired, an additional supply of oxygen also being provided for cutting metals. Oil passes by way of a pipe a to a nozzle a<1> in a tube a<3> having air-inlets a<4>, and burns at the mouth of the pipe. Should a hotter flame be required, some of the oil passes to a vaporizer B, where it is vaporized by the heat of the tube a<3> and by way of a cock e to a chamber E, to which oxygen is supplied by the pipe D. The mixed oil and oxygen burns at the nozzle f <1>. For cutting metals, a pipe M with a cock m and nozzle m<1> leads a supply of oxygen from the pipe D to the flame from the nozzle f<1>.
