Abstract

2384. Mouneyrat, A. Feb. 6, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Void. [Published under Patents &c. Act, 1907.] [Application for Patent of Addition to No. 18,701, A.D. 1906.] Incandescent gas and vapour burners; oxyhydrogen and like lamps.-In a modification of the burner described in Specification No. 18,701, A.D. 1906, the contraction 8, 8<1>, Fig. 1, is formed so that the angle of taper of the lower part 7, 8 varies between ten and twenty degrees and the angle of taper of the upper part 8, 9 varies between two and ten degrees, the conical top 1, 11 having an angle of taper of three and a half degrees. The conical part 8, 9 and the widening of the mixing-tube may be dispensed with. Compressed air is admitted to the top of a casing 10 surrounding the mixing-tube, and thence passes to the mixing-tube through holes 24, Fig. 4, surrounding the nipple 13. In a blowpipe burner burning hydrogen, acetylene, coal gas, &c., the oxygen is supplied to. the nozzle 15, Fig. 7, through a casing 12 surrounding the burner tube and provided with perforated plates 16. Volatile substances, such as stellin, are vaporized by heat conducted by a rod 14, Fig. 8, from the flame to the nipple 18 at the top of the reservoir 17. When less volatile liquids are used, the nipple 18, Fig. 9, is soldered to a wick tube 19, 20 containing cotton wicks 24 and formed of an upper copper part 19 and a lower zinc part 20, and the fuel is fed through a float-regulated chamber to the reservoir. These lamps may be provided with the inverted burners described in Specification No. 18,159; A.D. 1907. In a modification, the nipple is secured to a tube 25, Fig. 11, connected by a pipe 26 with the reservoir, and the lamp is started by an auxiliary gas burner, the heat from which is conducted to the tube 25 by a rod 14.
