INCANDESCENT VAPOR-BURNER.

The present invention has relation to incandescent Vapor-burners; and it consists in the different parts and combination of parts hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
Similar numerals represent correspondin g parts in both igures of the drawings.
In the accompanying drawings,1 represents the body, which is substantially of the form shown, and, as shown, it is provided with the ordinary supply-pipe 2. The fuel enters the passage 3 and is conveyed by pressure to the cross-passage 4 and thence downward through the passage 5, where it enters the passage 6, from whence it is conveyed through the tip 7. In use the lower portion of the body l is heated in the ordinary manner, by means of which thegasolene is converted into gas, after which it escapes through the tip and into the tube S, which tube is extended upward and its top or upper end covered with the wiregauze i).
For the purpose of supporting the chimney 10 the flange 1l is provided, which flange is connected to the bodyin any convenient and well-known manner, and above the flange 11 and within the chimney 10 is located the cylinder 12, which cylinder is formed of greater diameter than the pipe or tube 8, by which arrangement a chamber, such as 13, is provided and is located around the pipe 8, except at the point where the passages 3, 4, and 5 are formed. The cylinder 12 is formed ot greater diameter than the tube 8, by which arrangement the'chamber 13 is formed, which is located around the tube 8, except at the place where the passages 3 and 5 are located, and
is for the purpose of holding in proper position the gauze E) and at the same time providing a means for heating the gas to a greater degree by inclosing the top or upper end ot the tube S.
, After a su'licient amount ot gas has been generated by heating the bottom or lower end ot the bodyl the gas is ignited at a point just above the wire-gauze 9 by applying a match to one side of the mantle 14, after which the plug or screw l5 becomes heated by the flame of the gas. For the purpose of better heating the screw or plug said screw or plug is provided with the lateral head 16, which head is extended over the wire-gauze E), as illustrated in the drawings. The plug or screw 15 is extended downward to a point where it will form the upper side of the passage 4, by which arrangement said passage will become heated, or, in other words, the screw or plug 15, by reason of the lateral head 1G being located over the Wire-gauze 9, will be located in the llame of the burning gas, therebybringing said screw or plug to a high degree of heat, by which arrangement the gasolene will be converted into gas at the time it is brought under the heated screw or plug 16.
For the purpose of regulating the flow of gas the needle-pointed screw 17 is provided and is operated in the ordinary manner.
It will be understood that the screw or plug l5 should be formed of copper or like material, for the reason that it is to be used for the purpose of conducting heat to the passage 4.
For the purpose of supplying air the air-passages 18 are provided, which air-passages are located at the bottom or lower end of the tube 8 just above the tip 7, and for the purpose of protecting the air-passages 18 the hood 19 is provided, which hood is located and arranged substantially as .shown in the drawings. l
It will be understood that when the mantle 14 is brought in the proper position the plug or screw 15 will be located within the mantle, thereby bringing said plug or screw in proper position, for the purpose above described.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In an incandescent vapor-burner, the combination of the body 1, provided with a sup- IOO ply-pipe, passages 3,4, 5 and 6, a tip loeated at the bottom of the tube 8, air-passages located in the tube S above the tip, the eyliuder l2 located around the upper end or portion of tube S, the gauze 9 located over the tube S, and the plug l5 provided with the head 16, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
