Abstract

11,040. HarlÚ, J. B. V. L. May 19, 1908, [Convention date]. Incandescent v a p o u r burners; vaporizing - appa - ratus.-In an incandescent or like burner of the kind in which the mixing-tube e is open at its lower end, is arranged eccentrically to the wicktube a, and is heated by a subsidiary flame, the tubes e, a are connected together along the edges of a slot in the mixing - tube, and a regulating p i n - valve p is arranged in the vapour pipe, which is soldered to the tube e and is perforated near its lower closed end. Holes k, adjustable by a sleeve m, j, are formed in the tube e for allowing the combustible mixture to escape laterally and heat the tube, and a baffle l may be arranged below the holes, a fine metallic gauze being also arranged above the holes in the mixing-tube. The vapour may be prevented from leaving the lower end of the tube a by compressing the wick by means of a soft-wood conical pin. The usual burr.er-head grating i may be replaced by solid or perforated plug in heating-burners, and the insulating-cup q within which the vaporizer is mounted may form the supports for the lamp chimney.
