Folding boxes; fittings, internal; lids and covers.-A box of cardboard &c. for millinery &c. is made to fold by having the sides and base scored centrally at e, the sides having also diagonal scores f, and this arrangement permitting the base and scored sides to fold flat between the other two sides. The box may be made from one piece of cardboard, but is usually made from three separate sheets. The stiffening-lips on the upper edges of the scored sides are fitted with elastic braids, bands,- or steel springs m, which can hold the lips set at right-angles to the sides, either inside or outside the box. In the form of box shown, a loose lid is provided, but, in a modification, the lips or flanges may be made sufficiently wide to cover in the whole top of the box, in which case the loose lid might be dispensed with. To facilitate folding, holes q may be formed at the meeting places of the creases on the sides, and these holes may also be utilized to receive the ends of a tying-string passing over the box lid.
