Abstract
25,430. Richardson, H. Nov. 2. Combustion-product engines.-An atmospheric engine comprises two cylinders with pistons connected to cranks at 120 degrees. Flame is drawn into one cylinder through a valve 14, but is prevented from entering the other by foraminous material 21. On the closing of the valve 14, a vacuum is created in the two cylinders by their pistons moving outwards together and by condensation. The pistons being returned by atmospheric pressure, and the cooled products of combustion being expelled past the exhaust valve 23.
