Abstract

25,182. Liebenberg, C. E. Oct. 29. Cranks, variable - throw. - In variable-throw cranks for internal-combustion engines, cycles, &c., driven cranks 6, 7 are fixed on the axle 5 together with the chain sprocket 8. Disks 13, 14 are non-rotatably and eccentrically mounted on the opposite ends of the bottom bracket 4, and are tied together by bolts 15. The driving- cranks 9, 10 carrying the pedals are provided with straps 17 encircling the disks 13, 14, a ring of balls 18 or the like being interposed. The cranks 9, 10 are bent to pass through the sprocket 8, and are slotted to engage pins 19 on the arms 6, 7. The slot 21 extends into the outwardly-bent part 22, and is enlarged at that point. The disks 13, 14 may be of adjustable eccentricity, and their centres are placed in advance of and somewhat above the axle 5. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1653/96, [Class 136, Velocipedes &c.].
