Abstract

23,364. Hughes, F. P., and Davison, P. R. Oct. 8. Overhead transporters. - In transporters of the type in which an horizontal centrally-supported framework or arm forming a runway for a travelling carriage is provided with independently-driven drums for hoisting and traversing by a known arrangement of winding- gear, the drums are mounted centrally upon the top of the horizontal framework so that the carriage can be traversed along the entire length of the arm. As shown, the hoisting and traversing drums c, d respectively are mounted above the centre support b on the arm a. The ends of the traversing-rope l pass from the drum d round sheaves at the ends of the arm to opposite ends of the carriage k which is supported by wheels k' on rails k<2>. The hoisting- rope e passes from the drum c round a pulley at one end of the arm, thence round the pulleys h, i, k to the fixed point g. Specifications 89/94, 9471/99, and 19,498/01 are referred to.
