Abstract

192,546. Wellman Smith Owen Engineering Corporation, Ltd., and Smith, F. G. Dec. 6, 1921. Guiding load.-Relates to apparatus for transporting material by means of grabs or other suspended loadcarriers, and the object is to provide means for turning the grab or other load about a vertical axis. The invention is described in connection with a grab B suspended from a trolly E on an inclined runway E<2>. Two suspending ropes a pass over pulley-blocks C which are in different planes and are movable in those planes to alter the direction of the line joining the two points of suspension of the grab. The blocks C are mounted on carriers c which slide in guides c<1> in the trolly E. The carriers are moved along the guides in opposite directions by chains c<2> passing over sprocket wheels c<4> driven by a motor E<3> en the trolly. The guides c<1> are inclined so that the length of rope a between the block C and the grab is approximately the same in any position of the carrier.
