Trollies for runways.-Comprises a trolly running on an overhead cable and furnished with means for alternative hoisting and traversing, which are effected through an endless rope b driven by a stationary motor a, the operator being carried on the trolly. The rope b passes around sheaves c, d, either of which can be clutched to the hoisting-drum i, which can thus be rotated in either direction. Brakes h are provided on the drum i, so that, when they are applied and one of the sheaves is clutched to the drum, the trolly is traversed in one direction or the other. Stationary ropes k pass round sheaves on the trolly, so that, by means of brakes l, the trolly may be held at any point. In a modification, a rope grip may be used for traversing instead of one of the sheaves c, d, the load being lowered in this case under the control of the brakes h.
