Overhead travellers and transporters; trollies for runways.-To ensure both longitudinal and lateral stability, the load carriage, Fig. 3, is suspended from two or more wheels e on on the main cable span a and the operating-pulley g for the symmetricallyarranged hoisting-drums h, i is situated approximately in the vertical plane of the main cable span. The pulley g is operated by an endless rope passing over sheaves at the ends of the main cable span and through suitable tension gear to the winding drum. A separate cable attached to the carriage passes in a similar manner to a second winding- drum for traversing. The drums are driven bv a motor and arc jointly controlled for traversing, lifting, and lowering the load.
