Overhead travellers and transporters. - In chargirig-apparatus for blast furnaces of the kind; in which the skip m is lifted vertically and is then traversed longitudinally by a bogie d, the winding rope h is fixed to a point on the track framework b at the furnace end, and passes over a pulley k in the bogie d, round a pulley l from which the skip is suspended, over a third on the same axis as the pulley k and then to the winding drum f. A rope p carrying a weight also winds on the drum f and acts to counterbalance the skip during its vertical travel. In the construction shown, the pulley systems are duplicated and the rope is passed around a pulley j. The horizontal traversing movement of the bogie d is effected by a motor e.
