21,566. Godsal, P. T. Sept. 16. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to bolt-action rifles of the kind described in Specification 22,003/02, and consists mainly (1) in forming the sliding bolt c, which locks the handle a of the breech-block, with a depending part c<2> to form a sear safety, (2) in arranging the sear d, together with its spring, on the outside of the breech-body, the sear being provided with an inturned nose g to engage the firing-pin. The trigger i and connecting-link may be dispensed with, the sear being directly operated by an external pushbutton. As shown in Fig. 7, the sear d may be pivoted to swing laterally instead of vertically. Specification 18,824/04 is referred to.
