Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-Relates to safety-devices, for bolt-action rifles, of the kind in which the bolt and the firing-mechanism can be simultaneously locked, and consists in the combination with the locking - member for the firing-mechanism, of a cam which actuates a second locking-member adapted to engage the bolt lever. In the construction shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the first member, comprising a transverse rotary spindle and an operating-lever J mounted in the receiver, is adapted to engage the cocking-piece E by means of the nose J<2>, as shown in Fig. 4. Carried by the transverse spindle is an eccentric J<3>, Fig. 2, which, when the lever J is turned down as shown in Fig. 2, moves a locking-bolt K into engagement with a recess C<1> in the breech-bolt lever C. In a modification, the first member is adapted to lock the sear F.
