Clutches, friction; variable-speed belt gearing.-Relates to means for operating Westontype plate clutches which are combined with adjustable belt pulleys in motor-bicycles. The end-plate c of the clutch has a tubular extension f surrounded by the clutch spring g. The clutch is disengaged by a lever k, which takes its fulcrum upon a fixed stud i carried by the motor shaft b, and is pivoted to and moves a bar j secured to a sleeve h bearing on the extension f. One flange o of the V-pulley is provided with sockets p of varying depth, with which rods d engage, so that the pulley may be adjusted for use with belts of different lengths.
