Abstract

3528. Jones, T. H., and Scott, J. H. Feb. 14. Circular machines.-Latch needle machines for production of patterned work are provided with fixed up-throw or knocking-over cams 8 and movable cams 9, 10 acting on jacks 4 with differing lengths or shapes 5, 6, 7. The cams 9, 10 are operated by means of pins 11, 12 bearing on pattern rings 13, 14 racked by means of interchangeable gear-wheels 18, 19, 20, 21. A pattern ring 16 moving with the cam cylinder is operated by hand to throw all the needles into action. Fig. 6 shows an arrangement of levers 24, 25, 26 for moving cams 22, 23 simultaneously in opposite directions, whereby one pattern ring is dispensed with. The cams may be arranged to operate for portions of courses only.
