Abstract

28,375. Ageron, J. A., and Charpin, A. de, [trading as Soc. Ageron et Cie]. Dec. 4. Spray caburettors. -The power of explosion engines is varied by varying the pressure of the air entering the carburettor. A cock 1 controls the flow of compressed air from a main tank to a reservoir 2, Fig. 1, whence a portion passes through a pipe 5 to the carburettor shown in Fig. 2, the remainder entering a fuel reservoir 3 to supply fuel through a pipe 7 to the nozzle 11 of the carburettor. The flow of fuel is regulated by a needle-valve 12 actuated by the driver through a link 18, lever 17, and finger 16. The mixture passes a valve 9 on its way to the engine. Gauze plates at 6, 10, 21 serve to filter the air, mixture, and fuel respectively. A valve 13 gives relief in case of backfiring. The cock 1 and valve 12 may be controlled independently or simultaneously. By turning a cock 26, Fig. 1, the apparatus can be made to work at atmospheric pressure should the supply of compressed air fail. Air only may pass to the cylinders.
