Balance or differential gearing; transmission gear of invariable ratio.-Balance gearing for motor-vehicles is combined with two-fold reducing-gearing, and the whole is enclosed in one casing, the object being to reduce the size of the Cardan shaft &c. A driving-shaft A<1> carries a bevel-pinion A meshing with a wheel B, which is secured to a drum C carrying the planetelements C<1> of the balance gear. The sunwheels E', E<2> of the balance gear are secured to spur-pinions D, E, respectively, which mesh with internally toothed wheels F, G. The wheels F, G are connected by comparatively heavy shafts H, I, respectively, to the road wheels. The speed-reduction takes place in two stages, between the pinion A and wheel B, and in the internal gearing. One casing surrounds the whole.
