Balance or differential gearing; gearing with provision for permitting flexure or distortion.- Balance gearing suitable for motor-vehicles is Specially modified to allow the parts of the driven axle to take up inclined positions with respect to one another. The part-axles a, a' carry bevelgears E, E<1> meshing with planetary gears b carried in a drum B, which is driven from the engine through a bevel-gear D. The drum B is supported externally in bearings C in a casing A. The inner ends of the part-axles a, a<1> are supported in bearings F, F<1> so that each part-axle can oscillate to follow irregularities of the road. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 3962/06.
